Your journey begins in Maun, Botswana, where you’ll be warmly welcomed and assisted onto your transfer. After settling in, enjoy a riverside setting and your first dinner in Botswana, the perfect introduction to your safari adventure.
The next morning, board a scenic charter flight to Khwai, offering sweeping views of the Okavango Delta’s vast floodplains. On landing, your safari begins with a game drive transfer to camp, tracking wildlife along the way. After lunch, head out on a traditional mokoro excursion. Gliding silently through the waterways reveals waterlilies, abundant birdlife, and perhaps elephants crossing the channels.
Day three is dedicated to exploring the Khwai Conservation Area. Early morning and evening game drives provide outstanding chances to spot predators, elephants, and diverse birdlife, while the midday hours allow time to relax.
On day four, travel overland to Savute, a legendary region of Chobe National Park. Game viewing opportunities arise along the route, and the afternoon brings your first Savute safari drive. On arrival at Maun Airport, you will be warmly met and assisted with your transfer to your lodge, set on the banks of the peaceful Thamalakane River just outside of Maun. This charming lodge offers a relaxing start to your safari, with time to settle in and enjoy the riverside setting. Dinner is served at the lodge’s restaurant, where you can watch the sunset over the water (dependant on water levels).
After breakfast, you board a charter flight from Maun to Khwai, a breathtaking journey that gives you a bird’s-eye view of the Okavango Delta’s shimmering waterways and endless floodplains. On landing at the remote airstrip, your safari begins immediately with a game drive transfer to camp, as your guide tracks wildlife along the way. After settling in at Khwai River View Lodge and enjoying lunch, the afternoon is dedicated to a serene mokoro excursion. Gliding silently through the waterways in a traditional dugout canoe offers a peaceful contrast to the game drive, revealing waterlilies, birdlife, and perhaps elephants crossing the channels.
A full day in Khwai allows for immersive wildlife encounters. After an early morning game drive, return for a hearty brunch and some time to relax at the lodge. In the afternoon, set out again on an evening game drive as the bush comes alive with nocturnal sounds and sightings. Khwai is renowned for its predators, elephants, and diverse birdlife, ensuring memorable moments.
Today, embark on a road transfer from Khwai to Savute, travelling through untamed wilderness with game viewing opportunities en route. Savute is a legendary safari destination, known for its dramatic landscapes and predator action. On arrival, settle into your luxury mobile camp, where you will be accommodated in spacious 6.5m x 4m en-suite Meru tents. Each tent is thoughtfully designed for comfort, featuring twin beds with crisp bedding, a bathroom area that can be zipped closed, and hanging cupboards for your belongings. Solar lighting provides ample illumination in both the bedroom and bathroom. You’ll enjoy a shower on tap, toilet facilities, and amenities, combining rustic adventure with refined comfort. In the afternoon, set out on a game drive in search of wildlife before returning to camp for dinner under the stars and the authentic atmosphere of the African bush.
Spend the day exploring the remarkable Savute region with morning and evening game drives. The area is famed for its large lion prides, elephant herds, and the mysterious Savute Channel, which has been known to dry up and flow unpredictably. Return to your camp, for a warm welcome and the true atmosphere of a wilderness safari.
After an early breakfast at camp, you set out on the journey from Savute to Kasane. This is not just a transfer, but a continuation of your safari, as the route passes through diverse habitats. Keep your eyes open for possible animals moving through the bush, every stretch of the drive offers the chance for sightings. Arriving in Kasane by midday, you will check in at Chobe River Lodge. In the late afternoon, head out on a sunset boat cruise along the Chobe River, one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife experiences. As you drift along the water, watch elephants gather at the banks, hippos wallowing, and birdlife soaring overhead, all set against the golden glow of the setting sun. The day ends with dinner at the lodge, overlooking the river.
After breakfast, your safari comes to an end. You will be transferred onwards for your departure arrangements, taking with you unforgettable memories of Botswana’s wild places.
