From South Africa’s flagship Kruger National Park, to profound views that are entirely enthralling, travel on an expedition packed with unexpectedly brilliant sights in its short 8-days. Let us demonstrate the splendor of these two countries’ scenery and wildlife.
The concrete jungle of Johannesburg fades into the horizon as we make for the sweeping vistas of Mpumalanga’s highlands. As the land dips toward the Lowveld, we trace old trade routes to the outskirts of the Kruger National Park. The Kruger is inhabited by 147 mammalian species and over 500 bird species, proving to be an ecological web of marvellous proportions. It is famous and favourited for its expansive population of the Big 5 and predators.
In the glow of the morning, we enter the legendary Kruger National Park in 4×4 safari vehicles, venturing into thicket and grass laden plains, searching for the shifting of a cheetah’s coat or the bulk of an elephant wandering the brush. The following day is a short detour to the Panorama Route, a place where the scenery is sculpted by time and mist with centuries of geological storytelling, featuring views like Burke’s Pot Holes, God’s Window and Blyde River Canyon.
From Kruger, we journey into Eswatini, a mountainous kingdom coated in greenery, villages continuing to keep cultural tradition thriving. It welcomes you to explore and connect with your surroundings, having additional activities like mountain biking, hiking or game drives to reflect on your travels thus far.
We re-enter South Africa and descend into Zululand, land once ruled by the legendary King Shaka. In St Lucia, we wake early to explore Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve, a pillar for rhino conservation and a wilderness that breathes through the acacias. That afternoon brings us to the waters of iSimangaliso Wetland Park, a perfect sightseeing spot for hippos, crocodiles and the many species of birds.
Our final destination is Durban, the tropical city bustling with holiday appeal. From sandy beaches, uMhlanga Rock and Ushaka Marine World, the area has much to do. Ending on a high note, you’ll be swept up in your memories of experiencing Africa’s wildlife and experiences for many years to come.
Feel the adrenaline pumping as we traverse the Delta in traditional mokoro canoes. Keep your senses sharpened, for you never know when a hippo or crocodile may pop up during our aquatic safari!
Next on our itinerary is Chobe National Park, where an enchanting river cruise awaits us. Hold your breath as you witness playful elephants frolicking and crossing the river within touching distance.
As the mighty roar of Victoria Falls engulfs us, dare to take a scenic flight over the falls, or brave the rapids of the Zambezi River. There’s no shortage of exhilarating adventures in this remarkable locale.
We’ll then set a course for Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe’s largest wildlife haven, where we feast our eyes on the country’s diverse fauna. Onward to Matopos, we’ll be humbled by the awe-inspiring, marble-esque rock formations, aptly named “Matobo” or “bald heads” by the Ndebele people.
Our Zimbabwean journey concludes at the historical ruins of the Royal Palace of Great Zimbabwe, where we delve deep into its rich past.
As our adventure culminates, we swap the untouched wilderness for a fleeting glimpse of Johannesburg’s shining skyline, leaving us with memories of Africa’s wild majesty that will last a lifetime. This is not just a safari; it is a heart-seizing experience, a deep dive into Africa’s soul. Join us on this unforgettable sojourn through Kruger, Zimbabwe, and Okavango.

Tour Itinerary
This below itinerary is flexible and can be changed without notice. A detailed, up-to-date dossier itinerary is available to download for this tour.
Leaving the city of Johannesburg behind us we make our way east through the coalfields of Mpumalanga. Our journey today follows in the footsteps of the old trade-routes to the Lowveld and the Kruger National Park.
Rising early this morning we enter the Kruger National Park to enjoy a full day of game viewing. The abundance of wildlife presents us with opportunities for excellent sightings, and the Kruger is also home to the famed members of Africa’s Big-5. Truly the flagship of the South African national parks, Kruger is home to an impressive number of species: 336 trees, 49 fish, 34 amphibians, 114 reptiles, 507 birds and 147 mammals. Our Game drive through the park is in an open-sided 4x4 vehicle.
While those who elect to do the optional morning walk will have an earlier start, we set out a little later today and travel the short distance to the Panorama Route. Strung along the escarpment that divides the central plateau and low-lying bushveld of the Kruger, the sights of the Panorama route offer us a day of scenic delights. We will visit the highlights of Bourke’s Luck Potholes, the Three Rondavels and God’s Window before returning to camp in the late afternoon.
We start the day early with some coffee and traditional rusks before setting off through Kruger on our way to Eswatini. Our vehicle offers an excellent platform for game viewing as we make our way south. We exit the southern end of the park and travel the short distance to Eswatini border, our route this afternoon winds through the mountains and forests of this landlocked kingdom. Our destination for today is the Ezulwini Valley just south of the capital Mbabane.
Officially known as the Kingdom of Eswatini, Eswatini is a landlocked country which means that it doesn’t have a coastline and is completely surrounded by South Africa. Some key Swazi phrases to try include: Hello: “Sawubona” or Yes: “Yebo”. Today you will have the opportunity to explore your surroundings.
We bid farewell to Eswatini and re-enter South Africa, continuing south into the reaches of Zululand, once the realm of the mighty King Shaka who united the Zulu clans.
We set out early this morning for a game drive in the nearby Hluhulwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve, one of the last strongholds of the endangered rhinoceros. While rhinoceros are the most famous of the park’s inhabitants, the park also provides a home to many other species, including the Big-5 that we all hope to see. Returning to our lodging for a siesta, we freshen up for an afternoon boat cruise on St Lucia estuary.
This morning we will depart St Lucia and make our way to Durban, where your tour will come to an end upon arrival.
