A showcase of the extraordinary Kavango-Zambezi Conservation Area, be swept away in a celebration of the region’s ecosystem and featurette of indigenous history and culture.
We start by the thunder of Victoria Falls or Mosi-oa-Tunya, where the Zambezi river pours over its cliff edge. Following its western course, cross into Namibia’s Zambezi Region, a place wonderfully untamed and flourishing with creatures and culture. As dusk settles, embark upon a boat cruise to witness the fiery orange caught upon hippo and crocodiles’ backs.
Delving deeper, we reach Divundu, a quiet perch above the Okavango. A morning jaunt via boat takes you to Popa Falls, where the river forms multiple cascades and rapids to enjoy. That afternoon, Mahangu National Park welcomes us into its dense thickets on a 4×4 safari, being one of the most biodiverse areas of Namibia.
The fringes of the Okavango Delta is our next destination, a truly mesmerising landscape that draws in any and every species for kilometers. At our lodge nestled amongst trees, the landscape slows to the rhythm of water and birdsong. A sunset cruise slips you through narrow channels that mirror the sky, connecting you ever closer to the nature around you. A day trip to Tsodilo Hills immerses us into the spiritual traditions of the land, featuring dramatic quartzite hills with over 4,500 prehistoric rock paintings to peruse.
The path leads us to Maun, becoming our pause before descending to reside in the heart of the Delta within the Khwai Conservation Area. Navigate the waterways by mokoro (traditional canoe) amongst sprawling lilies and reeds with expert pollers before Moremi Game Reserve greets us with a full day of safari splendor in this diverse area.
We continue to Nata, overnighting at Elephant Sands where elephants drink from waterholes on your threshold, before arriving in Kasane. On the Chobe River, elephants wade to and from the banks amongst buffalo and hippos. Finally, we return to Victoria Falls’ roar, offering soaring flights above the gorge or jaunts along its forested trails. No matter how you choose to spend your time, the spirit of the rivers and channels will leave you with Africa’s mark, forever.
