Utterly stunning, be drawn into the beguiling scenery of Mozambique’s archipelago, where coastal delights await every traveller who decides to visit its shores. The pinnacle of a tropical escapade, you’ll find yourself surrounded by ocean offerings and infinite respite. Departing from the city of Maputo, Xai Xai calls us north to its golden shores, a captivating scene for a sunset walk along the beach.
We set off to Vilanculos for truly picturesque vistas pulled from postcards. Known for its turquoise waters and palm-lined beaches, the town is brimming with possibilities at sea. A traditional dhow sails you to Magaruque Island spending time swimming, snorkeling, and wandering this secluded island spot.
Dappled light makes its way through cashew, coconut and sugar cane leaves as we trek across the countryside to arrive in Inhambane. Here lies the jewel of our stays: Barra Beach. A plethora of activities, the coast offers more than meets the eye. From horseback riding at dusk to incredible encounters with endangered whale sharks while diving or snorkeling, this is your opportunity to explore Mozambique’s beauty. In the evening, we abscond to enjoy its sensational food.
A day trip to Tofo reveals a showcase of Mozambique’s vivid culture, calm swimming beaches, and inviting atmosphere. Visit a market packed to the brim with character and beach bars galore, you’ll find yourself amazed with activities to explore. An extra day allows for flexibility and ensures you experience everything on offer, even if the weather has other plans.
Eventually bidding goodbye to Inhambane, we return to the capital city of Maputo. This metropolis mosaic overflows with music, vibrant markets, and historic architecture. Our guide will help navigate these streets, bringing its colourful history to life and offer one last taste of this vivacious, Portuguese influenced vivacious country before your tour comes to an end.
What began as a trip becomes a memory stitched with sunlight and sea spray, leaving you with the lull of the tide. When craving an escapade to decompress, Mozambique’s reefs and island life await.
