Self-drive travel refers to a type of travel where the traveler rents a vehicle and drives themselves, taking full responsibility for navigating, driving, and managing the trip. It allows for greater independence, flexibility, and control over the itinerary, pace, and stops along the way. Self-drive travel can offer a sense of adventure and freedom, but also requires good driving skills and knowledge of local traffic laws and regulations.
On the other hand, private guided travel involves hiring a professional guide who serves as a local guide and driver, and takes care of the driving responsibilities. The traveler can focus on enjoying the trip and the destination without the stress of driving. The driver-guide provides local knowledge, expertise, and recommendations, and can offer a more immersive and personalized experience. It can be more expensive than self-drive travel but provides convenience, safety, and local insights.
Your Zanzibar journey begins with a warm welcome at the airport and a transfer to Tembo House Hotel, an iconic Swahili-style retreat on Stone Town’s seafront. Rich with character, the hotel offers antique charm, sea views, and easy access to the Old Fort and vibrant city life. The following morning, delve into the island’s fascinating past on a guided Stone Town tour, visiting landmarks such as the Sultan’s Palace, Old Fort, Anglican Church, and the famous Zanzibar doors. Explore the lively Darajani Market and uncover the city’s blend of African, Arab, Indian, and European influences.
In the afternoon, embark on a Spice Tour, wandering through aromatic plantations that reveal the island’s nickname—the “Spice Island.” Learn about cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, and other crops that shaped Zanzibar’s trade and culture. The day concludes with a transfer to the serene northeast coast and a stay at Zanzibar Queen Hotel, a beachfront escape known for its sustainability, yoga sessions, and tranquil spa.
Spend two full days at leisure—snorkelling, diving, or simply relaxing on powder-white sands overlooking turquoise waters. The eco-conscious resort provides pure relaxation while reflecting Zanzibar’s natural beauty and cultural soul.
After a rejuvenating stay, your driver will transfer you back to Zanzibar Airport, marking the end of an unforgettable island experience—where history, culture, and tropical serenity intertwine perfectly.
