A tour designed to satiate any traveller’s wanderlust, this route takes a wonderfully detailed excursion into Tanzania, Malawi and Zambia’s highlights, from famous national parks to vivacious cultural activities.
Departing from Kenya’s metropolis of Nairobi, we journey southward. Our first destination is the illustrious Serengeti National Park, where grasses are cast in gold at sunset. You’ll begin with a full day safari across the plains, roaming alongside the Big Five and Africa’s iconic wildlife. One of our most popular optionals is a scintillating hot air balloon safari, presenting a completely different vantage point. The dawn brings a descent into the Ngorongoro Crater, an inactive and verdant caldera ringed by ridges and home to the natural spectacle of the Great Migration.
From here, we move southwards, pausing in Mto wa Mbu Market, where you can immerse yourself in local flavors and crafts, before passing through Moshi and Bagamoyo en route to the coastline.
Boarding a ferry bound for Zanzibar, we temper the pace to luxuriate on this island, which is as intoxicating as its famous spices. Over two days, we whisk you away to Stone Town and its story-laden streets, alongside the aromatic business of creating spices. Delight in other activities like snorkeling and marine safaris or repose upon the white sand, the choice is yours.
Back on mainland Tanzania, we head inland to Mikumi National Park, where baobabs intertwine with the indigenous culture and wandering creatures. Iringa brings us to the flavour of richly brewed Tanzanian coffee and the entire process from bean to mug. Crossing into Malawi, we reach the cobalt stretch of Lake Malawi. A hotspot for swimming and relaxation amongst bird song, there is also an optional hike to Dwanbazi Waterfall.
Weaving into Zambia, countrysides of viridian take over, aiming for the esteemed South Luangwa National Park. South Luangwa, with its Mopane and Miombo woodlands, reveals the banks of the Luangwa River, a haven for any animal. You’ll have both a full day safari and sunset safari here, with the option of getting up-close with the African bush on a walking safari. The following day, we’ll visit Mulberry Mongoose Curios, a social enterprise turning poachers’ snares into elegant jewellery crafted by local women.
Our journey comes to a finale in the town of Livingstone, which is located a few kilometers from the globally sought sight of Victoria Falls. We recommend spending an extra night here to be able to explore all the thrilling activities and see the waterfall for yourself. While our time may have come to say goodbye, the memories will forever inspire and connect you to Africa’s rhythm.
