We begin at Victoria Falls, where the Zambezi plunges in a roaring curtain cascade, then trace the river west into Namibia. As dusk is mirrored along the Zambezi’s breadth, a boat cruise reveals hippos and crocodiles basking in the sunset’s orange glow.
In Divundu, we explore along the Okavango river via boat to Popa Falls’ tumbling rapids, followed by a safari in Mahangu National Park’s tangled and dense wilderness. The Okavango Delta’s fringes welcome us from our sequestered lodging for the night. Getting a closer look at the Delta, a sunset cruise brings us through mirrored channels. A daytrip to Tsodilo Hills unveils the cultural traditions of the land, alongside over 4,500 rock paintings across its quartzite towers.
We pause in Maun before venturing into Khwai Nature Reserve. In the flourishing greenery, expert guides whisk you away into the waterways by mokoro (traditional canoes). A full day safari out to the Moremi Game Reserve follows, where we will search for life within the grasslands and acacia trees, with a night at Elephant Sands in Nata providing an up-close encounter with elephants. Embarking on a Chobe River boat cruise, we observe animals all along its banks and channels before returning to the drum of Victoria Falls.
Entering the Zambian countryside, we amble northwards through the country’s verdant countryside, viewing rural life all the way to South Luangwa National Park. En route, we visit Mulberry Mongoose Curios, who employ local women to create jewellery from poacher’s snares. Consisting of two woodlands of Mopane and Miombo respectively, this park treats you to a sunset safari and the option to join a walking safari.
Transitioning into Malawi, Lake Malawi brings azure mirrors, its depths alive with iridescent fish and snorkeling opportunities. The road continues to Iringa, being treated to the fascinating taste and process of coffee harvesting. A sojourn to Mikumi National Park brings baobab trees into view, presenting excursions to search for fauna or book cultural tours.
After a brief overnight stay in Dar es Salaam or Bagamoyo, we ferry into Zanzibar. A true amalgamation of idyllic and zesty, this island is a blend of spices, history and paradise. We take you on a walking tour of Stone Town and a Spice tour, but there are a platter of ocean pursuits like snorkeling, marine safaris and beach bars to do over our two days here.

If you would like to help Nomad making Africa Greener, simply choose the tick box during your booking process (or contact us afterwards to add it) and we will take care of the rest. The Nomad African Trust is responsible for the administration of the funds collected from the sale of the green seats and these funds are distributed to various projects as identified by the Trust.
